Twirling By!

I can't believe it's almost the end of February already! Spring will be here before we know it!

I hope you have enjoyed all of the Birthday cards we have been sharing with you this month.

I have one last Birthday themed card to share with you this week. Meet "Dancing Ellie". How fun is Ellie in her tutu!

I stepped out of my colour comfort zone with this one - I don't usually do many purple/mauve cards but I am happy with how it turned out.

After colouring Ellie with alcohol markers, I cut her out using a classic oval die. A matching cardstock stitched oval die was cut to mount her on. The sentiment was done on my computer, printed out and cut with a fishtail banner die. Some matching twine and gumdrops finish off my card.

Sometimes You Just Need To....

                                  Happy Wednesday OCS Fans!

I hope you are enjoying our month of new release stamps from High Hopes celebrating birthdays!

My card this week features the new release "Bandit's Cake" and the "Eat Cake" sentiment. I don't know about you but sometimes a gals just gotta eat cake! and I know my dog likes to have a Birthday party too - whether it's his Birthday or not - he just wants cake! Okay he loves banana muffins but to him it's cake!

I coloured our oh so cute Bandit in pug colours and cut him out using a stitched square die. I added some colour to his eyes by drawing a light pencil line inside the edge and then colouring the pupil and then added some colour.
My patterned paper is from my stash but I wanted more of a party feel to it so I used a mini confetti stamp to add some party feel fun.
The sentiment was stamped and cut using a classic oval die and all the paper, sentiment and image were inked on edges with matching ink.
I added some edges by die cutting some resplendent rectangles and cutting the decorative end off of them. Some gumdrops and Star Dust Stickles added to the icing for sparkly sprinkles finish off my card.

Robot Birthday

                               Happy Thursday High Hopes Fans!

Wow! I can't believe it's Thursday again already and my turn to share another make with you.

This week I am sharing a Birthday card with a little bit more of a masculine feel. I have five nephews so I have had to take a deep breath and learn to like making masculine cards lol.

"Robot With Balloon" and the "Open Happy Birthday" sentiment (links below) were a perfect match for this Birthday card. I'm not sure which one of my nephews will receive it but at least I have one of their cards done!

The finished card size is a little smaller then I usually make (4"x4") but it will still hold money or a gift card which are always on the wishlist of my nephews.
My robot friend was coloured with alcohol markers and fussy cut with manicure scissors. Some glossy accents were added to the balloon for a bit of shine. Blue cardstock to match my paper was run through an embossing folder to add some texture. The sentiment was stamped, coloured with matching alcohol markers and fussy cut. Some orange twine and gumdrops finish off my card.

Yertle's Belated Birthday

Welcome back OCS fans! Happy Wednesday!

I am having way too much fun playing with the new Party Time release from High Hopes Rubber Stamps.

This week I am playing with "Yertle Turtle Birthday" - I LOVE his name - and the "Belated Birthday" sentiment.

Poor Yertle, he is a turtle and moves VERY slowly so he missed the Birthday party. He looks a little sheepish about missing the party but also very happy to bring belated wishes.

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers I fussy cut it with my trusty manicure scissors, added some Stickles and a clear sparkle pen for some bling and set it aside to dry.
While my image was drying, I cut a piece of white cardstock and a cloud die, grabbed some light blue ink and a dauber and created my sky background. A picket fence and some grass hills finish off my background scene for Yertle.
Patterned paper pieces and cardstock were cut to size to fit my 5.5" x 5.5" base and everything was glued down. The sentiment was stamped and mounted, a ribbon bow added and some enamel dots to finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Yertle Turtle Birthday (TT109) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Belated Birthday (GG013)- High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Party Dragon

Happy Thursday High Hopes Fans! The week is flying by - tomorrow is Fri-YAY!

We are having a month long party at High Hopes and the DT is playing along with a Birthday theme.

My post for today features an older High Hopes stamp and sentiment called "Party Dragon" and "Dot Happy Birthday To You!". How cute is this guy jumping out of the box with confetti and balloons!

Party Dragon is coloured with alcohol markers and then fussy cut leaving a thin white edge. He is mounted on card stock and fussy cut again leaving a thin red border. A white metallic pen was perfect for adding some fun polka dots to his bright blue box and Stickles were added to the confetti dots for a bit of sparkle.

Matching red with white polka dot ribbon was added to patterned paper from Photo Play to complete my layout.

If I Could

                          Happy Wednesday High Hopes Fans!

The party is continuing at High Hopes Rubber Stamps with their new Party Time Release. I hope you've had a chance to pop by and check out all of the fun Birthday themed stamps and sentiments!

My post features "Pretty Gladolias" and the "Love & Laughter" sentiment. We have had very little to no sun over the last few weeks and flowers make my heart happy so I decided this stamp was perfect to make me smile - I hope it helps bring a smile to you too! It also makes me wish for Spring but that is another whole story

I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers then fussy cut it with my trusty manicure scissors. The sentiment was stamped on cardstock after cutting out a square with a stitched die. A honeycomb pattern die cut was added to spice up my layout a bit but I really wanted to keep the layout on this one quite simple.
Some crystal hearts from my stash finish off my card.

My Heart

Have you browsed all the new releases for February in the Whimsy Digital shop yet? So many fun images, new paper and sentiments galore - I have had way to much fun playing with all of these things!

Today I would like to introduce to "Courageous Carl". I have used digital paper from the April Showers and Soft Spring Greens collections and a sentiment from Vintage Sentiments.

After printing my stamp I coloured it with alcohol markers and fussy cut it out leaving a thin white border. Carl is popped up with 3D pop dots just for fun.  The background sky was created with ink and a cloud die cut. My "grass" was cut using a stitched hills die and my white picket fence was added.
I printed the sentiment directly on my patterned paper, added some ribbon and a few matte dots to finish it off.

Stamp: Courageous Carl - Whimsy Digital

Happy Birthday Cuppy Cake!

                             Happy February High Hopes Fans!

This month is all about Birthday's! What a great way to beat the February blues - we can party all month long!

I have a few friends who's spouses call them "Cupcake" as their pet name so when I saw this stamp I knew I had to make it into a Birthday card for one of them.

Meet "Cherry Chip Chimp" with his extra large cupcake!

I coloured my image using alcohol markers and cut it out with a stitch marks and pierce marks die - this die set is part of a Christmas present to myself I have been waiting to use! A combination of patterned paper from Echo Park and Carta Bella were perfect for my layout using the new sketch for this month's challenge.
I used some white acrylic paint for the icing to add some texture - icing isn't always smooth at least not when I do it  - and some glitter to add a little sparkle.
The sentiments are stamped and one is fussy cut the other is cut out using a fishtail banner die. It is fun to be able to use part of a sentiment to complete your message. A couple white gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Cherry Chip Chimp (S189) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiments: Fancy Script Happy Birthday (HH019), Cuppy-Cake (F222) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: Dots & Stripes - Echo Park, Soak Up The Sun - Carta Bella

My Valentine

Welcome to the February Digital release Whimsy Fans!

I don't usually make Valentine's Day cards to be honest but when I saw "Penguin Valentine" I knew I needed to make one! How seriously cute is this?! I think this stamp could be used for so many card types - a hello to friend, congratulations on an engagement.....the list goes on!

I wanted to find a way to have an envelope type theme to my card so I decided to make a criss cross card.

Cat & Mouse Party

We're having a party with the new "Party Time" release from High Hopes Rubber Stamps.

This release is full of cute animals celebrating birthdays and sentiments to match!

For my post today I get to introduce you to "Cat & Mouse Party". One of my dear friends has a cat named Sunshine who is a light orange and white striped cutie! This stamp reminded me of him!

I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers then cut it out using a stitched square die.  Stickles in the confetti give my card a little sparkle.

The new sketch for this month's challenge was the perfect layout.

Now I know a few of my fellow DT's are going to laugh but I couldn't find a patterned paper in my oh so "small" collection (not) that I wanted to use so I created my own. I cut a piece of white cardstock to size, did some ink blending, spritzed it with water and when it was dry stamped the sentiment repeatedly and voila - patterned paper.
Some matching paper cut with a fishtail banner, a matching bow and some gumdrops finish off my card

Card Recipe
Stamps: Cat & Mouse Party (TT104) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Happy Birthday Block (GG014)- High Hopes Rubber Stamps

A new month means a new release at High Hopes Rubber Stamps!

This month's new release "Party Time" is all about Birthday's so grab your party hat and noise makers and come join the party!
You can never have too many birthday cards in your stash right?!?

I am excited to introduce you to "Chi Chi's Party" - how cute is this Chihuahua - yes I had to google how to spell that! - with his teddy bear friend and party hat!

Chi Chi and his friend are coloured with alcohol markers and cut out using a stitched oval die. I used this month's new challenge sketch for my layout.

Since Chi Chi is dressed in his finest party collar I had to add some Stickles to it - a guy's gotta have bling right?! Stickles were also added to his party hat and the icing on the cupcake.
The sentiment was stamped and cut out using a fishtail banner die. I fussy cut part of the Presents stamp and added some more Stickles to the bows.
Some matching gumdrops and a party banner finish off my card.
